In preparation for Thanksgiving I made this dish for my mother-in-law who traveled back to Louisiana to be with her sisters. Like crawfish fettucini, shrimp rice and étouffée, this is an expected and much-anticipated dish for the Lake Charles contingent of the family and one that I count among my personal favorites. Today, with our world so full of negative and disheartening developments, I offer this recipe to the community in the hope that someone will make it and know the comfort it brings during the holiday season.
