This week has been somewhat of a trial for me personally. On Tuesday, I wrecked my car. I'm ok and so is everyone else but it was a pretty sucky end to an already sucky day. I am placing the blame for this on registered Dems who didn't show at the polls. I know that is irrational, but so is wrecking a car so I'm running with it. There was a subsequent ER visit attached to all of that, too.
So, today I was really psyched to have 72°f and blue skies. I took my boys to Zilker Park, in the heart of Austin, and let them run free while I decompressed.
In the top photo you can see how close the park is to Downtown. At 350 acres it's a real nice place for kite flyers, music lovers and dogs.
There are lots of trees, mostly Live Oaks and Pecans, and the city leaves the remnants of dead ones whenever possible like the one in the midle image. My kids love these as if they were monkeys.
And then there is Barton Springs Pool, an oasis in the hot summer months. The aquifer-fed pool stays at a constant 68-72°f year round. People swim and lounge naked, too. It's Austin, after all.
