Kitchen Table Kibitzing: Thanks

Hey friends! Long time no see! How y’all doing anyway?

Everything well in your world? Things in mine are complicated and busy but I’m here to report that I am happy. In fact, I may well be the happiest I have ever been in my adult life.

It would be awesome to be able to share the details of the profesional aspect of that because much of my happiness has to do with my not-so-new-anymore employment. It’s a job I so love that I almost can’t believe it’s real. But I can’t share those details here for a variety of reasons. What I can tell you is it’s the first job I’ve ever had where literally everyone I know and work with is in love with what they do. What a gift!

And I’m thankful for that, and I’m thankful as well to be able to come home each day to my family and look them in the eye with a clean conscience, knowing that my work makes a difference in people’s lives and in a way that is tangible and meaningful. Thankful that I can say with complete honesty that not a single part of my work has a negative impact on my or others’ lives. Thankful that I am challenged to excel and succeed intellectually. Thankful that my superiors are innovative thinkers who I respect and admire and that we all share the same priorities and values. And thankful that there are no petty politics or power struggles to get in the way of what we do.

An unintended casualty of this work, coupled with my increased push to complete a long-term writing effort, has been my ability to participate here at Daily Kos in any meaningful way. That isn’t going to change any time soon, so I wanted to take the opportunity this evening to let everybody know that after tonight I’ll be unable to contribute to KTK, Top Comments, WYFP?, other groups or my personal account for the foreseeable future.  This is by no means a GBCW. I’m not leaving. But I’m gonna be around even less than I have been lately, which is almost not at all.

This community is very important to me. KTK in particular has had a significant impact on my life, and all of you are a part of that. I could easily name a dozen Kossacks who have, for one reason or another, affected my life in ways I hold dear. To all of you please know you are in my heart and I thank you. I love you guys, individually and as a group.

There is one person who I want to specifically name here, and that’ s remembrance. R, you welcomed me to this community and made me feel at home at a time I really needed a community to call my own. Your kindness and sincerity made me want to be a better community citizen, and your fearless and unapologetic activism has been an inspiration. Thanks for being my friend and welcoming me at your table. I know that when I am able to return I’ll be welcomed back, and I look forward to that when it happens down the road. And it will happen. I will be back here.

And I love you guys.

I’ll be in and out, y’all. We had a later dinner that expected and things are kinda still happening. But I’ll be back to respond to every comment. Hope y’all has a great Thanksgiving with family and friends. Peace to us all.

Kitchen Table Kibitzing is a community series for those who wish to share part of the evening around a virtual kitchen table with kossacks who are caring and supportive of one another. So bring your stories, jokes, photos, funny pics, music, and interesting videos, as well as links—including quotations—to diaries, news stories, and books that you think this community would appreciate. Readers may notice that most who post diaries and comments in this series already know one another to some degree, but newcomers should not feel excluded. We welcome guests at our kitchen table, and hope to make some new friends as well.
